Unmetered TiVo access reaches 'critical mass' - 20 percent o

TiVo's Australian distributor says that unmetered access to TiVo content has now reached a "critical mass" of 20 percent of Australian broadband subscribers following iiNet's announcement that it will offer unmetered access to TiVo content from late November.

iiNet, Australia’s third largest ISP, joins Internode, Primus and Adam Internet in making the TiVo content available free of download  quota.

According to TiVo's exclusive distributor, Hybrid Television Services "The TiVo broadband proposition has a clear path to success with the  liberation of its broadband offering placing it well ahead of broadcast-only  access available through competing DVRs in the market."

Hybrid notes that, in addition to the 20 percent of broadband customers that will be able to get TiVo quota free, major ISPs Optus and AAPT have unmetered plans  or unmetered time of day windows.

TiVo is also broadening its range of content. CEO Robbee Minicola, said: "We have started our broadband experience with the Blockbuster Movies On-Demand and today have more than 250 movies available for our customers to download and view on-demand without having to leave the couch. We would expect to grow this on-demand portfolio to include television in the very near future.”

iiNet is set to release its own IPTV product that it says will be "designed to work harmoniously with the range of content in the now-bulging iiNet Freezone." iiNet’s IPTV service will be a separate offering  to the TiVo partnership.

I didn't know Optus offered unmetered Downloads for Tivo. You would think they would make a bit of noise about it.
Runs off to buy Tivo....

I' think you'll find that Optus' "unmetered" is probably surrounded by so many * and + and ** etc that it is unreadable, and probably not truly unmetered.

Exetel offers Australia's lowest price plans with a true 12 hours per day unmetered downloads (and 24/7 unmetered uploads) on many of its plans.
